Massimo
Pierini
is a brilliant and eclectic composer born in Lucca, arranger and independent
producer active in fields such as
jazz, classical
music, cinematic, progressive rock, art rock, ambient music
for films and
documentaries. A multi-instrumentalist, in the studio he often plays bass, piano, synths, percussion. A free spirit in his own right, he declared himself against any type of musical competitions and, despite an uncommon mental openness in terms of musical genres, in favor of preserving traditional musical languages. At a very young age (about eight/ten years old) he developed a passion for Progressive Rock music, listening to groups of historical importance such as Jethro Tull, Le Orme, Genesis, PFM, Van Der Graaf Generator as well as the Beatles. As he pointed out, that provided him with an uncommon ear for music, at that young age. He trained as a self-taught player on the classical guitar addressing to music, (as regards composing and playing), that is technically less complex but certainly not of lesser historical-artistic value such as blues, boogie woogie, country and pop-rock... basically the international song in English, often with swing-jazz implications. At around 19/20 y.o when he began to compose songs, as an IT student he began to experiment with the programmable SID musical circuit composing the "Images of a futurible present" Between 25 and 31 y.o. he composed some esquisite classical miusic. Impatient with the hunger for hits marked by banality and dullness of the music industry... in 2000 he founded his first independent label. For years he has dedicated himself to composing and playing live in formations he created, gaining experience in the 360-degree usic field. In 2018 his creative passion for jazz music rekindled. During the pandemic he created some musical theatre subjects. In 2024 he spent six month working exclusively on his classical music. Lover of stylistic coherence, the chosen method to deal with different musical languages is the creation of separate projects, managed with wisdom within the Nautilus Studio, musical productions. Massimo is also an artistic director, creator and organizer of the annual memorial festival "Musiche e Parole ai 4 Venti". Massimo Pierini is passionate about nature, philosophy, archeology and science, especially astronomy. His favorite literature is French and Russian. As a young man he played football (soccer) and tennis. Today he practices trekking and mountain biking. He loves animals and lives with a beautiful and very special tabby kitten. |
